Visa Considerations

VISA Considerations from the Department of Home Affairs, Republic of South Africa


To gain admission to South Africa it is necessary to be in possession of visas obtainable from South African Missions abroad, if the persons concerned are citizens of countries subject to visa control. Kindly note the following visa considerations:


  • i. Delegates must not be prohibited or undesirable in terms of the South African Immigration Act, 2002, as amended.
  • ii. The LOC will share a letter of invitation to registered delegates for visa applications.
  • iii. All delegates’ passports must be valid for at least 30 days beyond the intended date of departure from the RSA.
  • iv. Delegates’ passports should contain at least two unused visa pages when presenting the passport for purposes of endorsing a visa.
  • v. Immunisation for yellow fever is an entry requirement if the journey starts or entails passing through the yellow fever belt of Africa or South America.
  • vi. The immunisation must be done ten days prior to arriving in South Africa.
  • vii. Where delegates from countries where South Africa has no Mission, the applications should be couriered or posted by registered mail to the country’s accredited Mission.
